Nerdcore rapper MC Chris recently held a public remix competition for his new album Race Wars. I took the oppertunity to put his acapella tracks together with some of the instrumentals I had been working on for the new volume of GameChops slated for release on January 5th 2012. All the mixes are downloadable and streaming via Soundcloud.

DJ El Nino and Noccturnal bring us classic hiphop from the Wu Tang Clan mashed up with the soundtrack to the original Castlevania games. While trolling DatPiff you can find a lot of flipped video game music, but it’s a rare treat to find a concept mixtape that goes as hard as this. Check it on DatPiff.

Check out Asis Galvin’s video game beat tape Game Over on Bandcamp. Featuring nineteen instrumentals and a bonus rap song, Game Over features chopped and screwed tunes from games like Super Mario RPG, Mario Kart, and Pokemon.
One of my favorite tracks on the album is a remix of Scott Pilgrim vs The World: The Game, originally written by Chiptune rock band Anamanaguchi.
The album is tightly produced, dynmatic hiphop fashion, perfect for freestyling over or just some easy listening. At only $5, what’s not to like?
Asis Galvin has also produced a Final Fantasy Remixed album and an Okami Mini-Mixtape. If you’re a fan of any of these games or simply laid back hiphop beats, head over to Bandcamp to support this man!

Dubstep Is Dead is meant to be a eulogy for the classic meaning of the word Dubstep; a genre that got its start with underground garage mixes in the UK. This mix comprises of the tracks and artists that I believe have taken the genre to new places, incorporating elements of progressive house, electro, chiptune and tech. This is not to say that dubstep itself is gone from this planet forever, but rather it has risen like a Phoenix… here to destroy us all.
Released on Halloween 2011, a one year anniversary of live dubstep mixing for me. I hope you’ve enjoyed all the MIXES thus far. A big, big thank you to all the artists, blogs, and labels who’ve provided me with the music I spin, this is truly a team effort.
