Hey Ladies! LadyHacks 2016 Is April 15-16

Alright ladies (and those who feel comfortable identifying as a lady) it’s that time again: Lady Hacks 2016 is April 15th and 16th. Grab your laptop and prepare a list of your most brilliant ideas.
For the last three years, this two-day fundraiser has been bringing lady programmers, designers, project managers, mentors and beginners together to solve, learn and create. This year’s theme is “Health, Wellness and Self Care.” How does technology interact with and effect your health? How would you like to use technology to take better care of yourself?

Some examples of previous LadyHacks include: RentSafe, a map that uses Craiglist listings and neighborhood crime statistics to show where the safest apartment rentals are located, STEM Girl Connect, a mobile app that connects STEM interested young women with mentors in their chose field and Girl Wired, a digital game about a girl who loves bending circuits.

LadyHacks is focused on program development, but there are also speakers, Q&As and mentorship program. LadyHacks seeks to create a space where professionals and complete beginners can come together to teach each other. You do need to bring your own laptop, but they provide plenty of Internet and a safe space to brainstorm new ideas.
This is the 4th annual Lady Hack event. In general, hackathons are multi-day, 24-hour events where a large group come together to learn more about tech culture and creator something or solve a problem. Some hackathons focus on creating a new game or program in 48 hours.

Last year’s LH sold out pretty fast, so get your ticket now. Your $15 registration will go to support the tech non-profit Girl Develop It. Oh, and did I mention there will be food? Caviar and Sweetgreen are LadyHack sponsors and they’ll be providing lunches. Also, the events are not sleep-in. This year is about practicing self-care, so get a good night’s rest!
