bLiNd – NESteryears

NESterYears-Black-Cover-GCMAGfest may be over, but GameChops is just heating up! This new release is a huge milestone, Overclocked Remixer bLiNd has created TEN remixes based on games from the Nintendo Entertainment System; Final Fantasy, Mario Bros, Castlevania and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to name a few! It’s called NESteryears and you can download it right now!

I’ve been listening to bLiNd’s music for nearly a decade, it is a great honor to have worked with him to release this album. Some of you may remember my bLiNd Trance mix from back in 2010, which showcased my appreciate for bLiNd’s music.

NESteryears is a licensed remix album thanks to a collborative effort between GameChops and Joypad Records.

Cutman x Complex: An oldschool hiphop/video game mixtape

I recently had the oppertunity to create a unique mix for Complex Magazine’s Video Game section. Following their E3 coverage, Complex was looking for a way to showcase the classic chiptune video game sound. Being the old school hiphop head that I am, I rounded up some of the best mashup artists who had worked with my GameChops instrumentals.

With guys like OhhhREALY and BigGanga0 from YouTube, and DJ PsyQ from Soundcloud, and some beats DJ Grumble and I put together, I set off on a hectic week of mixing, mashing, and mastering. The end result can be heard right here on Complex magazine.

I hope you enjoy the mixtape! I’ve been wanting to do something like this for ages, and I’m happy I finally got the opportunity from Complex.

Instrumental versions of the mash-up tracks can be downloaded on my album GameChops Vol. 1

Asis Galvin – Game Over (The Mixtape)

Check out Asis Galvin’s video game beat tape Game Over on Bandcamp. Featuring nineteen instrumentals and a bonus rap song, Game Over features chopped and screwed tunes from games like Super Mario RPG, Mario Kart, and Pokemon.

One of my favorite tracks on the album is a remix of Scott Pilgrim vs The World: The Game, originally written by Chiptune rock band Anamanaguchi.

The album is tightly produced, dynmatic hiphop fashion, perfect for freestyling over or just some easy listening. At only $5, what’s not to like?

Asis Galvin has also produced a Final Fantasy Remixed album and an Okami Mini-Mixtape. If you’re a fan of any of these games or simply laid back hiphop beats, head over to Bandcamp to support this man!
