pro.tect is a lovingly prepared collection of Syphus’ work from 2007 to 2011 – almost entirely unheard, outside of his live shows. Though the tracks have been mastered for more ear-friendly and mp3-friendly listening, they were all made using AHX (Amiga), HivelyTracker (Amiga), Protracker (Amiga) and FastTracker2/MilkyTracker (PC).

There is no one else quite like Mizuki’s Last Chance; He’s a producer from the UK who makes, in his words, “chipdubnbasslectrotoncore,” and that’s not far off. Uncompromising hard electro/dubstep style drums layered seemlessly over melodic chiptune leads and gritty electro basslines and distortion. Holy Bleep is Muzuki’s first EP, but he’s been releasing tracks on Soundcloud and 8bc for years. Back in October VideoGameDJ gave the spotlight to Mizuki.

The “gAtari” was my excuse to do something a little silly after I discovered that the Atari 2600 was more limiting than I realized! (31 pitches, minimal waveforms and only 2 channels!) I needed an EQ which could take a high voltage and drop it down to line level (Boss bass EQ) plus a way to hold loops between tracks and parts (Boss delay). So rather than have it “DJ” style config, I thought I make something a little more creative. It uses my atari-x-mod converter software which compiles binary files for Atari. I am pleased to announce a new EP from Chiptune legend Sabrepulse. I’ve been waiting for this release since First Crush (featuring Knife City) premiered on Soundcloud this summer. This EP features eight tracks, including a collaboration with UK Chip Superstar Henry Homesweet who performs live with two gameboys and a DJ Mixer (low bit basement). Producing songs with Ableton Live and his Gameboy, Sabrepulse’s music feature relentless detail and masterful production.

Sabrepulse has been releasing chipmusic since 2005 (Discogs), from joyful Chiptune to aggressive ChipBRK, emotional 8-bit ballads to high energy headbanging DnB, Sabrepulse’s style is diverse. The consistency through all of Sabrepulse’s tracks can summed up with a simple phase, this is damn good music.

The title track to this production is my favorite, a genre shattering blend of Chiptune, DnB and Bassmusic, with intricate drum patterns and soaring 8-bit leads. Featuring Knife City (aka LikeLuke, the drummer from Anamanaguchi).
