Composer Jake “virt” Kaufman is thrilled to present the authentic 8-bit soundtrack to Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows, the free expansion to 2014’s smash hit title developed by Yacht Club Games. Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows puts players in control of Plague Knight, one of the villains of the original game, exploring his motives while introducing new gameplay mechanics and music that revisits key themes from the original award-winning score in addition to presenting some all-new surprises.

“Jake’s music is incredible, and we couldn’t be happier to have him on board for Plague of Shadows,” says Yacht Club Games in unison. “His music makes the game so much more fun and engaging, and we can’t wait for everyone to get their hands on each brilliantly crafted track”.

The Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows Original Soundtrack is available on Bandcamp for as little or as much as you’d like–Name Your Price–with all proceeds going to improving Jake’s studio:

In addition to the ten new tracks that complete the Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows soundtrack and select remixes, listeners will also be treated to a new vocal arrangement titled “Alchemy” that marks the debut of Mint Potion, a sound production team comprised of Jake Kaufman and composer/vocalist Dale “CorgiKing” North. This soulful jam explores a surprising side of Plague Knight and combines Jake’s funky compositional style, Dale’s silky-smooth vocals, and live strings performed by Jeff Ball. Mint Potion is looking forward to contributing to soundtracks both big and small in the future.

The Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows expansion is now available for free to anyone who already owns or purchases the original Shovel Knight.
